The Adirondack Mountains of New York have a history that reaches as far back as two billion years, surviving two ice ages. Indigenous people known as the Laurentian culture inhabited the area over 15,000 years ago and several native cultures including the Mohawk slowly expanded throughout the region over time. Home to a variety of fauna and flora, the mountains boast a dense forest of deciduous and coniferous trees; bogs filled with pitcher plants; and lakes for loons, beavers, otters, bear and moose. Today, the mountains are known as a place to disconnect from reality and return to our roots.
