The Outer Banks are the famous barrier islands of North Carolina with a long history and stunning biodiversity. Known for their string of lighthouses watching over the seas of Graveyard of the Atlantic, the islands play host to endangered sanddunes, wild horses, oat grasses and serve as nesting grounds for sea turtles.  The Outer Banks are also worldknown for being the place where the Wright brother's first flight occured and where the pirate Blackbeard was killed.
